To carry out the full renovation of a period house and grounds, providing a comfortable and contemporary family home, with the significant addition of an outside pool. The client desired a luxurious home that required extensive works carried out to restore it to a luxurious living space.
It had been divided up, internally, with little care and understanding; decoration being dated and in a bad state of repair, as were all bathrooms and kitchens. The brief was to transform this very large property, into a four-bedroom house, with each bedroom featuring an ensuite wet/bath room.
Our client had very strong ideas about interior decoration and required the use of either Farrow and Ball or Little Green Paint Company products on walls and woodwork at all times and a high spec. for all fittings and furnishings.
After a full survey was undertaken and outside consultants commissioned, to aid with architectural challenges (especially the new roof that was required), and interior designers to assist with the final look and finishes. The property was stripped bare, before any reconstruction could take place and the large-scale ground works were undertaken, especially for the outside swimming pool.
The interior rooms featured many listed features, such as windows and shutters, which required particular care and attention to detail, as did the bespoke fixtures and fittings; including a hand made kitchen, bespoke hand-made bedroom and dressing room cabinets, high-fashion lighting and specialised bronze switches and face plates. All in keeping with the client’s wishes and paying respect to the property’s history.
This highly challenging and exacting project required the team to really pull-out-the-stops to achieve the completion to time schedule, whilst pro-actively problem solving unseen challenges and issues that arose, due to the nature of the property’s history. The quality of the work carried out, and the finishes applied, showcases the skills of the team to great effect and the result is a valuable and historically important building has been returned to a loved family home, fully modernised for today’s living needs and respectful of its past.
A project we spent a great deal of time getting to know, and so full of history and stories in the old timbers. Rumours of ghosts abounded during our time on site, especially in the dark winter mornings and evenings… but by the time we had levelled every last floorboard and stairwell throughout the property there wasn’t a creak heard. Normal or paranormal!
Mike is the business – extremely can-do, nothing is ever a problem
